About the Role
This role involves ensuring the stability, security, and performance of servers, networks, and other critical systems. The IT Systems Administrator will work closely with the IT team to support end-users, implement IT projects, and maintain a reliable IT environment.
Your responsibilities in the role
System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows/Linux servers and related infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system resources.
- Ensure timely patching and updates of systems and software.
Network Management:
- Support local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), Wireless networks and VPN connections.
- Assist in the configuration and management of network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance and ensure network security.
Security Management:
- Implement and maintain IT security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and access controls.
- Monitor security logs and respond to security incidents.
- Regular monitor system backups and ensure data integrity.
User Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access in Active Directory and other systems.
- Assist with onboarding new employees by setting up workstations, accounts, and software.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Perform routine system checks and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure systems are regularly backed up and data recovery processes are in place.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.
Project Support:
- Assist with IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Collaborate with the Group IT team to deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Provide input on IT infrastructure improvements and new technology implementations.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
About you
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in system administration, network management, or related IT roles.
- Experience with Windows/Linux servers, network management, and IT security practices.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administration Fundamentals
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+
- Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT)
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is an advantage.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in managing and administering Office 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams.
- Experience in configuring and maintaining Office 365 security and compliance features.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Office 365 services and applications.
- Knowledge of Office 365 migration processes and tools.
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for Office 365 administration.
- Understanding of Office 365 licensing and subscription management.
- Experience in integrating Office 365 with other enterprise applications and services.
- Communication and collaboration skills to support end-users and provide training on Office 365 features and functionalities.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
